Chinese authorities have intensified their crackdown on counterfeit and substandard goods, with 21,404 individuals prosecuted in 2024 for the production and sale of such products, according to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP).

Additionally, more than 7,700 people were arrested for related offenses as part of the nationwide enforcement efforts. The SPP also unveiled six major cases involving fake fire extinguishers, diesel, cosmetics, fertilisers, and pharmaceuticals, all of which posed risks to public health and safety.

Authorities have vowed to continue cracking down on counterfeit crimes, particularly those linked to e-commerce platforms and live-streaming sales. The focus will also include enhancing food and drug safety in both urban and rural areas.
