Charles Odii visited the Cane Village in Maryland, Lagos, to engage with local artisans and understand the challenges they face in growing their businesses. The artisans highlighted critical needs, including capacity development and access to finance. Promising to return with support, Odii has now fulfilled that commitment.

Over the weekend, the Cane Village artisans participated in a training program that introduced them to the Business Model Canvas, equipping them with tools to better understand the value of their products and explore opportunities for scaling both locally and internationally.

Additionally, the program addressed a significant challenge for small and medium enterprises (SMEs): access to financing. Participants were taught simple bookkeeping practices to build credit histories and establish the formal structures financial institutions require.

The initiative, which also included grants to support their businesses, reinforces the importance of fulfilling promises to drive sustainable development. “Fulfilling promises like these strengthens trust and lays the foundation for lasting change in our communities,” Odii stated.

This intervention underscores the power of collaboration and targeted support to empower local artisans, ensuring their businesses thrive in today’s competitive market.
