The collaboration between the Benue State government and the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) aims to uplift 27,600 women across the state by providing them with financial assistance, as revealed by the Commissioner for Cooperatives and Rural Development, Mrs. Joy Luga, in Makurdi.
Mrs. Joy Luga highlighted that the initiative, a joint effort between the state government and BOA, is designed to equip women in the state with the means to achieve self-sufficiency.

Expressing gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Alia for allocating funds for the project, she emphasized that prioritizing women, particularly those in rural areas, is in line with the governor’s overarching development strategy.
Moreover, the commissioner outlined that the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development has already initiated training sessions for women in various vocational fields. Upon completion of these programs, beneficiaries will receive soft loans and grants ranging from N100,000 to N200,000 to kick-start their entrepreneurial ventures.
Mrs. Joy Luga affirmed, “Within the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, we have devised strategies to empower women. We have provided training to women in cooperatives and associations, aiming to offer them initial financial support that we believe will pave their way out of poverty.”
