Bank of Africa, IFC partner to empower 1,000 SMEs nationwide

The Bank of Africa (BOA)-Ghana, in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), has introduced a groundbreaking project aimed at training approximately 1,000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) across Ghana, with a special emphasis on women-led businesses.

This innovative partnership marks a first-of-its-kind initiative in Ghana, designed to empower targeted groups economically.

The launch event, held in Accra, saw 50 SME participants engage in a two-day interactive seminar.

The year-long program, open to both bank customers and non-customers, targets all 16 regions of Ghana, particularly the women’s segment of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA).

Abderrahmane Belbachir, BOA-Ghana’s Managing Director, emphasized that while capital access is crucial, real empowerment involves providing essential skills and knowledge.

He assured continued support through tailored financial solutions and more loan opportunities.

Jacob Wilberforce, BOA-Ghana’s SME Coordinator, highlighted the bank’s dedication to SMEs, offering low-interest loans and comprehensive advisory services.

Facilitator Margaret Jackson from IFC underscored that the training will equip entrepreneurs with vital financial and operational skills, including profitability analysis and cash flow management.

Participants, including Abugri Emmanuel of MBA Prime Limited, praised the program for its practical value and networking opportunities.
