The challenges faced by young people in agriculture and to tap into the potential of the sector for job creation and wealth generation, Lagos State has introduced the Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (L.A.P.). Launched under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, this initiative aims to train 15,000 unemployed youths over the next five years in modern agricultural techniques.
The programme, established in 2020, targets youths between the ages of 18 to 35 for males and 18 to 40 for females, who are passionate about agriculture. Participants will undergo a one-month intensive training course at the Lagos State Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in poultry, aquaculture, vegetable, and piggery value chains, as well as E-Agric and agribusiness.

Upon completion of the training, participants will embark on a three-month internship and mentorship phase in their chosen value chains, providing them with hands-on experience and guidance to kickstart their agricultural ventures.
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must possess a minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate, have satisfactory physical health, and meet the specified age criteria. Interested candidates are required to apply through the LAP APPLICATION PORTAL, where they will fill out an online application form and upload necessary documents such as their LASRRA card and academic credentials.
Shortlisted candidates will undergo online aptitude tests, with successful applicants proceeding to the training phase. By engaging the youth in agriculture, Lagos State aims to not only boost food production but also to create a sustainable pathway for economic empowerment and inclusive growth.
