Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has directed the public to report any individuals found reselling kiosks at the Christmas Village for prices exceeding the government-approved rate of N100,000.
Speaking on Wednesday during the unveiling of newly acquired waste management equipment in Itam, Itu Local Government Area, Governor Eno disclosed that some individuals were selling kiosks for as much as N300,000, far above the approved rate. He urged citizens to report anyone attempting to charge higher prices, assuring that such sharp practices would be addressed swiftly.
“I have credible intelligence that some people went and bought shops at the Christmas Village and are now reselling them for as much as N300,000. If anybody tells you to pay N300,000, please report the person immediately,” Governor Eno stated. “Anyone selling the shop should accept N100,000. If they ask for more, tell them to meet Umo Eno.”
In addition to addressing kiosk reselling, the governor also warned against the display of fetish masquerades and ritualistic performances during the Christmas season. He stressed that such activities would not be tolerated, emphasizing the importance of showcasing Akwa Ibom’s culture in a respectful and dignified manner.

On the environmental front, Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness across the state. He revealed plans to reward the cleanest local government areas and announced that a law would soon be enacted to prosecute individuals involved in indiscriminate waste disposal.
The Governor called for collaboration between local government chairmen and the Akwa Ibom State Waste Management Agency to ensure efficient waste management services, further highlighting the state’s focus on environmental hygiene.
Prince Ikim, Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Management Agency, expressed gratitude for the new waste management equipment, noting that it would significantly enhance the agency’s operations.
The event also saw remarks from Ubong Nkut, Chairman of Itu Local Government Area, who thanked the governor for initiating the Nnung Ukot Itam–Ikot Ekwere road project, fulfilling a key campaign promise. Additionally, Baba Owo, National Coordinator of Clean Up Nigeria Limited, commended the Governor’s environmental efforts, acknowledging their positive impact on sustainability in the state.
