In a bid to drive economic growth and empower small businesses, the Akwa Ibom State government has launched the ARISE Entrepreneurial Equipment Support Scheme, benefiting 2,000 entrepreneurs with over 10,000 sets of business equipment. This initiative aims to provide critical tools to help small businesses expand, create jobs, and strengthen the local economy.
Beyond business support, the government has also made significant investments in education and skill development, rewarding academic excellence and breaking barriers in various industries. Key initiatives include:
77 minibuses and 31 saloon cars distributed to support transport entrepreneurs
₦10 million awarded to Edidiong Essien, who achieved 8 As in the 2023 WASCE
Full sponsorship for a master’s degree abroad for Dr. Joseph Akpan, a University of Uyo graduate with 10 distinctions
₦15 million to five Akwa Ibom students who won the Singapore-Bilateral International School Debate, plus ₦5 million for their teachers
₦5 million granted to Otobong Philip Udoh, a female tipper truck driver defying gender norms in the industry
These initiatives highlight the state’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, rewarding excellence, and driving economic empowerment. With these investments, the government aims to create a more self-sustaining business environment where small businesses can thrive and contribute to Akwa Ibom’s economic transformation.
