Domestic air travel and intercity bus fares in Nigeria have seen significant increases in August 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The average fare for domestic flights rose by 25.51% from July 2024, reaching N123,700.14 per single journey. Niger State recorded the highest average fare at N129,575.21, while Zamfara had the lowest at N102,665.89.

However, bus fares within cities decreased by 7.77% from July to August, dropping to N869.35 per drop. Intercity bus fares rose slightly by 0.59% to N7,159.00 in August.
Anambra state had the highest intercity bus fares at N9,580.85, while Kwara had the lowest at N5,574.46. Zamfara also recorded the highest bus fares within cities at N1,155.52.
These data highlight the fluctuations in transportation costs within Nigeria and may impact the affordability of travel for both domestic and international visitors.
