In a landmark move for African trade, the inaugural shipment under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) has set sail to five African nations. Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of Trade and Investment, heralded this milestone as a pivotal step towards industrializing the continent.
Speaking at the shipment’s launch, Anite emphasized that AfCFTA represents a groundbreaking initiative to create a unified market for goods and services.
This agreement is poised to enhance economic integration, foster regional cooperation, and transform Africa through trade.
With 54 countries and over 1.3 billion people, AfCFTA is set to drive industrialization, economic diversification, and job creation.
Anite highlighted that the agreement will catalyze a new era of business leadership, entrepreneurship, and manufacturing in Nigeria and across Africa.

The introduction of the Guided Trade Initiative (GTI) aims to provide essential support and guidance to businesses and entrepreneurs, ensuring the practical implementation of AfCFTA. Anite congratulated the pioneering Nigerian companies involved, praising their resilience and setting a strong example for others.
Additionally, Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, assured stakeholders of the agency’s commitment to facilitating export trade.
