The Federal Government has earmarked N777 billion to complete the long-delayed reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road an infrastructure move expected to significantly benefit small and medium-sized businesses in northern Nigeria.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed that Section Two of the project will be delivered in 14 months by Infiouest Construction Company at N525bn. Sections One and Three, totaling 118km, have also been re-awarded for N252bn with a 30% upfront payment.
Originally awarded in 2018 to Julius Berger for N155.7bn, the project stalled due to rising costs and incomplete work. The revamp now includes concrete-reinforced roads and solar-powered streetlights.
