The Abia State Government is seeking to attract investors from Turkey and Europe to revive moribund industries across the state, including textile, ceramic, and machine tools factories. The initiative aims to restore Abia’s industrial base and strengthen MSME participation in manufacturing and export.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public-Private Partnership, Jerome Green-Amakwe, and Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Salome Nkemakolam Obiukwu, said the plan will be formalised during the upcoming Abia-Turkey Investment Summit and Product Exhibition scheduled for November 25–27, 2025, in Umuahia.

Technical Adviser to the Commissioner, Dr. Fidelis Uchenna Offor, explained that the collaboration will enable local entrepreneurs to partner with Turkish investors through capital inflow, technical expertise, and skill transfer. “This is about revitalising our existing industries and creating sustainable jobs through strategic partnerships,” he said.
The summit, themed “Bridging Continents, Unlocking Prosperity,” will focus on manufacturing, agriculture, textiles, and logistics. The government said it aims to reposition Abia as a trade and industrial hub, enhance local production, and drive inclusive growth through MSME empowerment.
