The Abia State Government has thrown its support behind the Agricbusiness Incubation Centre at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU). The endorsement was announced during a pivotal visit led by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. Monica Ironkwe, accompanied by a high-profile delegation.
During the visit, Prof. Ironkwe highlighted the remarkable progress achieved by the Centre since its establishment, prompting Governor Alex Otti’s keen interest in forging a partnership. Expressing satisfaction with the Centre’s activities, Governor Otti directed Prof. Ironkwe to explore avenues for collaboration, aiming to enhance food production and agricultural profitability across the state.

Dr. Cliff Agbaeze, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, reiterated the government’s commitment to working hand in hand with the Centre for the welfare of the citizens. In response, Dr. Philips Nto, the Director of the Centre, conveyed gratitude to Governor Otti for his proactive engagement and assured him of MOUAU’s support in realizing his vision for enhanced food production in Abia State.
Dr. Nto provided insights into the Centre’s operations, emphasizing its potential to propel Abia State into a prominent agricbusiness hub in the southern region. The delegation, which included esteemed figures such as Prof. Nneoma Obasi and Prof. Ifeoma Onwuka, expressed keen interest in the Centre’s activities, underscoring the government’s proactive stance towards leveraging MOUAU’s Agricbusiness Incubation Centre for agricultural advancement.
