6,000 Women in Birni Kebbi Set to Gain from FG N50,000 Empowerment Programme

The Kebbi State Government has announced a significant opportunity for 6,000 women in Birni Kebbi to partake in the Federal Government’s N50,000 Enterprises and Empowerment Programme, a move aimed at addressing poverty among women.

Alhaji Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, revealed this initiative in a statement to the press in Birnin Kebbi.

The programme, falling under the jurisdiction of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, seeks to provide financial support to alleviate economic hardships faced by women.

Alhaji Muhammad Hamidu-Jarkuka, the Kebbi State Commissioner of Humanitarian and Empowerment and also the programme’s Focal Person in Kebbi State, shared that the funds would be distributed as interest-free soft loans, specifically to bolster business activities among women.

During the exploration of three senatorial districts to engage with market women, Hamidu-Jarkuka highlighted that the team visited various markets in areas benefiting from the programme, including Kamba, Zuru, and Bunza Local Government Areas. Notably, each of these areas represents a senatorial district.

Furthermore, delegates from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, led by Alhaji Yakubu Rabi’u, in collaboration with the Kebbi State Ministry of Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation, undertook market visits across the designated zones to facilitate and guide the implementation of the programme.
