The announcement came during an orientation session held in Yenegoa, where Mr. Abiodun Sanni, the National Project Coordinator, underscored the importance of nurturing these youths to become successful entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. He emphasized that the selected individuals underwent a rigorous screening process, marking them as the fifth batch of successful incubatees under the LIFE-ND initiative.

Representatives from IFAD LIFE-ND, including Jerus Uvieghara, highlighted the project’s commitment to continuous support and progress monitoring, ensuring the success of the participants. The initiative, spanning across nine Niger Delta states, aims to generate over 38,000 agrientrepreneurs through the incubation model, focusing on priority commodities such as rice, cassava, plantain, oil palm, cocoa, poultry, and fishery.

Mr. Sanni elaborated on the broader goals of the LIFE-ND project, emphasizing its role in transforming rural economies and challenging prevailing stereotypes about the industriousness of Niger Delta youths. He expressed optimism about the participants’ potential to contribute to the region’s economic growth and prosperity.

Mrs. Beatrice Ebi, one of the beneficiaries, commended the initiative for its commitment to training and empowerment, pledging to make the most of the opportunity. She urged other non-governmental organizations to follow suit and replicate the success of LIFE-ND in uplifting communities and fostering sustainable development.

The selection of these youths for agriculture training marks a significant step towards harnessing the potential of the younger generation and driving economic transformation in the Bayelsa region.
