200 farmers receive grants in Kaduna

Lawmaker representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District at the National Assembly has empowered 200 farmers through Capacity Building and provision of startup grants to promote entrepreneurship.

During the program in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, Senator Marshall Katung, represented by Prof. Ibrahim Sodangi, stated that the gesture was a part of the efforts to address insecurity and guarantee food sufficiency.

According to Prof. Sodangi, providing farmers with modern agricultural production techniques will increase their capability and maintain their relevance in both domestic and global markets.

According to him, the Southern Kaduna pilot program mostly catered to victims of insecurity who had lost loved ones and means of subsistence.


He clarified, “The selection was carefully done to include people that are affected within the different political wards of Southern Kaduna regardless of gender, ethnicity, or religion.”

God’s might The program’s facilitator, Esen, stated that its goal was to provide farmers the skills they needed to expand and, in turn, assist pull others out of poverty.

A few attendees, including Joy Moses and Musa Tabbat, thanked the legislator for assisting in the development of agribusiness capacity and promised to apply the knowledge they had gained wisely to support food sufficiency.

The 200 recipients of the empowerment program, which was run in collaboration with the Federal College of Agriculture in Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, received N50,000 each to help launch their companies, as well as agricultural insecticide sprayers and STD sprayers.
